Less Like Hippos More Like Honeybees

CE is an intentional discipleship strategy that empowers teens as contributors rather than consumers.

LESS LIKE HIPPOS.

Hippos are consumers, eating over 100lbs of vegetation each day. Modern ministry approaches often mirror this idea – treating young people as consumers and defining effectiveness as the information given, events provided, or the dollars spent. There’s nothing wrong with Biblically accurate curriculum, fun events, great facilities or appropriate compensation for ministry workers. We believe these are great things! However, if our discipleship strategies only require passive attendance and consumption from young people, the results will continue to be less than we’d hoped.

MORE LIKE HONEYBEES.

Honeybees are contributors, working together for honey production and hive maintenance. Crucial roles are passed along from generation to generation so the work of the hive continues season after season. They are an indispensable part of our ecosystem as their activity allows fruit and vegetation to be available for the world’s consumption. You have the opportunity to leverage the spiritual potential of youth and help them see that God has wired them as contributors, rather than consumers! This allows youth ministries to reach more young people than ever before, become increasingly sustainable and unleash the next generation into the world for God’s glory!

Honeybees create a harmonious and productive community where each bee works for the good of the whole hive. In the same way, treating students in your youth ministry like honeybees fosters a culture of teamwork, support, and love where each person is a valuable contributor to the good of the church.

Commitments to Transform Your Ministry

Dave Pershell
Action Impact

"Using this concept helped us to directly challenge students to walk with their creator, and in doing so to be ready to become more of an active participant in God's mission for their lives."

Jesse Carver
Youth Pastor

My heart is to see our students our students of service (student leadership) group lead by example, carrying out the calling to live active, healthy, and productive Christian lives.

Daniel Meyers
Youth Pastor

"To be honeybees is an awesome gift, i think God is calling us to be vs hippos which are consumers and not really contributing anything to the kingdom of God. We are on a mission to change the culture and Christian Endeavor is helping us do that."
